Fangirling.
People are entitled to their opinion.
I’m all for your freedom of speech & your rights to protest.
But here’s where I draw the line.
Call it what you want: “being a true fan” or “fangirling” or whatever, I don’t approve of it.
People are entitled to their opinion of everything & everyone in the world. I’ve seen people who “call upon their forces” of whatever fan-based army they’re in to attack someone who voiced their opinion.
I’m specifically thinking of an example I saw on tumblr about spamming someone with messages because they don’t think that a member of One Direction is atractive.
That is fucking ridiculous.
You don’t know who this person is; they are a complete stranger. They are entitled to have whatever opinion they have of any famous celebrity. And the Bill of Rights gives them the right to voice their opinion without the fear of persecution.
Not everyone has the same tastes. I personally do not like Nicki Minaj. I’ll occasionally listen to her music, but I’m gonna be completely honest and say that Nicki Minaj scares me a little bit.
I don’t really listen to Drake, Wayne, or very much hip-hop in general. But I’m entitled to my opinion.
To send any kind of rude message to a complete stranger simply because they voiced their opinion is atrocious.
I doubt that the members of the band that you’re defending so heartily would approve of it.
I would tell you to go ask for their permission, but then I have to remember the fact that you don’t actually know any of them.
So, please, let’s all be civil.
